New Delhi: Indian film star Akshar Kumar admitted on Saturday that there was a drug “problem” in Bollywood due to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput Anesthesia investigation.
India, which is obsessed with movies, has always been attracted by the legend of Rajput’s death. Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai in June. Police said he committed suicide.
The 34-year-old’s death investigation has launched a large-scale drug investigation. His ex-girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty (Rhea Chakraborty) was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of buying marijuana for him.
Indian media has also joined calls for a wider investigation into the multibillion-dollar film industry’s so-called “drugs mafia”.
In an almost four-minute video posted on his Twitter account on Saturday, Kumar called on the industry’s fervent fans not to tar everyone in Bollywood with the same brush.
“With a hand on my heart, how can I lie and say that this (narcotics and drugs) problem doesn’t exist in our industry,” Kumar, 53, said in Hindi in a video watched more than 2.5 million times.
“It exists in our profession the same way problems exist in every other profession. But to say that everyone in every profession is involved in all its problems would be wrong.”
Including 34-year-old superstars Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Pret Sing Several high-profile actresses, including Rakul Preet Singh, have been questioned.
Last month, after the television channel TimesNow broadcasted the WhatsApp conversation about obtaining hashes, widespread attention to the Bollywood case reached its peak, and they claimed that the two people chatting were Padukone and her manager.
At the same time, Rajput’s family disputed the report that the actor was suffering from depression and accused Chakraborty of stealing his money and harassing him.
Chakraborty, 28, was hunted by the media along with her family for several months. She denied any wrongdoing.
