IHC issues notices to respondents in plea seeking judicial commission to probe wheat crisis

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday ordered Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to submit their response in a petition seeking formation of a judicial commission for investigation into the wheat crisis.

IHC Justice Aamer Farooq chaired the petition’s hearing, asking the court to form an independent judicial committee to investigate the case and argued that outstanding PTI leader and business magnate Jahangir Khan Tareen played a role in shaping agricultural policy Played an important role and food security.

Tareen was also used as a respondent in the petition filed by citizen Muhammad Tahir.

Tariq Asad, the defender who represents the case, said to the court: “This case is crucial, so it is important to form a judicial committee.” He added that those responsible for the wheat crisis should be treated by law.

The judge asked the petitioner to wait for the respondent’s answer until the case was further heard.
