LAHORE : Member of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and opposition leader of the Punjab Assembly , Hamza Shahbaz has filed a bail plea in asset case in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday .
According to detailed information, Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), and the Director General have become parties to the petition.
The PML-N leader took the position that he made the reference 14 months after his arrest. He added that putting any defendant in jail for a long period of time is equivalent to sentenced him before the trial.
On June 11, after the LHC rejected his application for an extension of temporary bail, the accountability monitor arrested Hamza.
At the June 11 hearing, Hamza’s defense attorney Salman Butt (Salman Butt) argued that under the National Bank Act, the bureau cannot issue an arrest warrant unless it investigates the issue. Judge Naqvi said that he will make a judgment in accordance with the Constitution and ensure judicial justice.
The prosecutor had submitted complete details of assets of Shehbaz Sharif’s family members in the court with an argument that their assets were beyond their known sources of income.
“Billions of rupees were added to the assets of Shehbaz’s family, whereas Hamza couldn’t provide details of the sources of his income,” he added.
The bench was further told by the NAB that in the year 2018, his assets were found to be worth Rs410 million, whereas he could not prove assets worth Rs380 million, and the money was laundered to Dubai and England, and 40 individuals were involved in the money laundering.
