Islamabad: China on Saturday asked Pakistan to conduct a thorough investigation into the Gwadar suicide attack, severely punish the perpetrators, and take concrete measures to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.
“At the same time, relevant departments at all levels in Pakistan must take practical and effective measures to accelerate the implementation of security measures throughout the process, upgrade security cooperation mechanisms, and ensure that similar incidents do not occur again,” the Chinese statement said. The statement was issued after a convoy carrying Chinese citizens was attacked in Gwadar, killing three children and injuring several others, including a Chinese citizen.
According to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, a convoy of four Chinese citizens carrying “complete security details of the Pakistani army and police contingents” was attacked on the East Bay Expressway.
The statement added that the attack occurred on a coastal road close to where fishermen gather.
The Chinese delegation noted that the Pakistani authorities responded quickly and stated that after the incident, Pakistan immediately sent the wounded to Gwadar Hospital for treatment.
The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan strongly condemns this terrorist act, expresses its sincere condolences to the injured in both countries, and expresses its deep condolences to the innocent victims in Pakistan.
The embassy said that after the convoy was attacked, it immediately activated its emergency plan.
