NANKANA SAHAB: The Minister of the Interior Ijaz Ahmed Shah said on Saturday that the federal government has received several petitions calling for charges against former National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq under Article 6 of the Constitution. Article 6 defines the crime of treason.
Shah said at a ceremony in Nankana Sahab that petitions received in Islamabad and Lahore have been sent for legal review.
The day before the Shah’s statement, the Minister of Information Shibli Faraz hinted that legal action would be taken against the PML-N leader’s controversial claims regarding the release of the Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.

Shah said: “Ayaz Sadiq passed the false statement about Indian pilot Abhinandan and the chief of the army.”
The Interior Minister criticized the opposition party, saying that he dismissed allegations against the Pakistani army “from abroad” and vowed that all of this was to ensure that the opposition’s wealth was plundered.
