Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday announced that the government has decided to ban Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) on request of Punjab government.
Sheikh Rashid (Sheikh Rashid) said at a press conference that due to violent protests, two policemen were killed and 340 people were injured. The party’s workers also tried to take some police officers as hostages in order to force the government to accept Their requirements.
The minister said the detailed summary will be forwarded to the Federal Cabinet to ban the party.
It is worth mentioning that due to protests by workers from religious groups that have stalled traffic in some major cities and highways, the government has deployed rangers together with the police. Thousands of commuters-women, the elderly and children-were stranded.
