Karachi: As of August 2020, the government’s net debt was as high as Rs 35,659 crore, compared to Rs 32,240 crore at the end of August 2019.

According to the information from the National Bank of Pakistan, the amount borrowed from long-term bonds (PIB) totaled Rs 1,391 crore. In the first two months of this fiscal year, government debt increased by Rs 554 billion.

It further pointed out that as of June 30, 2020, total debt was approximately Rs 35,1050 crore, and government debt increased by Rs 3,419 crore compared to August 2019.
