Google, Facebook extend work-from-home plans

San Francisco: In response to the tech giant ’s response to the deadly corona virus pandemic, Google and Facebook have informed most employees to continue working from home for the rest of the year.

The Silicon Valley giant confirmed on Friday that CEO Sundar Pichai told Google employees at a staff meeting that his remote work policy will be extended to 2021.

According to the company, the return to the office is expected to be incremental and staggered.

The news came along with reports from the US media. Facebook also allowed workers to work remotely for the rest of the year.

Due to coronavirus concerns, Google employees who need to return to the office will do this within the next month or two months and take more security measures, but most employees will continue to work from home.

According to reports, Facebook’s update plan is to reopen offices in early July, but if people want, they can let them work from home until 2021.
