Lahore: Pakistani Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Rana Sanaullah said that the members of the PTI rally have been with PML-N and former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani contacted. If the former PM wins a seat in the Senate, it would be difficult for the PTI government to survive.
‘Ikhtalafi Note’, the PML-N leader said that Senate election adjustment in Punjab was not the result of any negotiation or settlement, only the covering candidates withdrew their nominations.
“Unlike Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, votes have never been sold off in Punjab. No one in Punjab considered it appropriate to take a risk, otherwise, there would have been competition”, he added.
The former provincial law minister claimed that some PTI members have directly demanded a ticket in return for their vote for Yousaf Raza Gilani. They also told Gilani that if they were assured a ticket, they would be ready to discuss further.
Rana Sanaullah said that our priority should be new and fair midterm elections, and the new mandate should be accepted by everyone.
He said that the opposition’s position is clear. The government did not come to power with legal authorization. He added that in any case, the election should be transparent.
