Islamabad: The first batch of coronavirus vaccines is likely to be delivered to Pakistan from China on Saturday by a special plane of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

China has handed over a special container to Pakistan and shipped half a million doses from Beijing. National airlines will provide free services in this regard. The authorities confirmed that China has donated a total of 1.1 million doses of vaccine to Pakistan.

It is pertinent here to mention that Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar had on Wednesday said that the vaccination of front line health workers will start from next week as the system is in place.

He said hundreds of vaccination centers in the country will be administering the Covid-19 vaccine. Earlier, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) made an integrated plan for the vaccination of the Covid-19 patients.

The plan was developed by the federal government in consultation with all stakeholders and provinces, taking into account best international practices and health guidelines.
