Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Thursday that the first batch of coronavirus vaccines will arrive in Pakistan on Saturday on a special plane of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

According to the details, 500,000 doses will arrive in Pakistan from China. The PIA special plane will depart for Beijing on Friday, and the national airline will provide free services in this regard.

It is pertinent here to mention that Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar had on Wednesday said that the vaccination of front line health workers will start from next week as the system is in place.

He said that hundreds of vaccination centers in the country will use the Covid-19 vaccine. Previously, the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) developed a comprehensive plan for the vaccination of Covid-19 patients.

This plan was compiled – keeping in view the best international practices and health guidelines – by federal government in consultation with all stakeholders and provinces.
