SUKKUR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) president Moulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday said that announced weeklong nationwide protest starting Friday over publication of blasphemous caricatures in France.
He said at a press conference in Sukkur on Tuesday that it is strange for Europe to call itself followers of Hazrat Issa (AS), but when trying to insult the Prophet Issa (AS), Muslims must protest.
The JUI-F official said that the publication of the blasphemy comics has hurt the mood of Muslims around the world, adding that the blasphemy sketches were hung on the French government building at the request of President Emmanuel Macron. He said that these people are indifferent to religion and we do not accept their ideas and philosophies.
When condemning the bombing of Islamic religious organizations, the President of PDM said that this was an unfortunate incident and we express our sympathy for the martyrs and the heirs of the injured.
He added: “If the government and state institutions cannot protect us, I will call on religious experts to make arrangements for their safety.”
Fazl went on to say that October 27 is a day of solidarity with the Kashmiris, and we stand in the just struggle of the Kashmiri brothers.
On one issue, he said that PDM will continue to rally until the country re-votes.
Commenting on the statement made by Prime Minister Imran Khan on the former president and the Supreme Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, the person in charge of JUI-F said, If the Prime Minister is serious, he should be responsible for protecting the lives and property of the people.
He claimed that NAB has become a retaliation agency used by villains. Regarding these islands, he said, our position is very clear, that is, all provinces have the right to use them.
