Islamabad: In view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the federal government has convened a meeting of all provincial education ministers on Thursday, November 5 to discuss the possibility of school closures and winter vacations.
According to sources, the Minister of Education Shafqat Mahmood (Shafqat Mahmood) will chair the meeting, and ministers from the four provinces and representatives of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan (G-B) will attend.
As the number of coronavirus cases across Pakistan continues to increase, parents are increasingly worried about sending their children to school. The source said that the ministers will review the situation of educational institutions and take the next step accordingly.
The source added that ministers may also discuss other matters, including the date of winter vacation and the start of the new school year from April 2021 to August 2021. In addition, decisions related to the 8th level board examination will be made during the meeting.
Yesterday, Mahmood issued a statement on the suspension of classes, stating that the government has not yet made any decision.
