Lisbon: Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive for COVID-19, the Portuguese Football Association said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old Juventus striker will miss Wednesday’s European Union game against Sweden, but “is in good condition, has no symptoms and is in isolation”, the league said.
The league added that due to Ronaldo’s positive result, the rest of the Portuguese team have been tested, but they have all been tested negative and can participate in the Swedish game.
Five-times world player of the year Ronaldo appeared in his side’s 0-0 draw away to France in the Nations League on Sunday and Wednesday’s 0-0 draw in a friendly at home to Spain.
Now, he will be suspicious of Juventus’s Saturday trip to Crotone in Serie A and their first Champions League group match heading to Dynamo Kyiv next Tuesday.
