COVID-19 outbreak: Smart lockdown imposed in three more UCs in Karachi


Karachi: Due to the increase in coronavirus cases in the metropolis, three other union councils (UCs) in Karachi have been intelligently locked.

According to the details, the model colony, Korangi and Shah Faisal town areas will be blocked for 14 days.

On the other hand, the local government also closed three restaurants in the Southern District for not implementing the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the coronavirus.

The decision was announced after Pakistan reported 80 deaths from the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, and the number of positive cases surged to 457,288. The total number of deaths across the country jumped to 9,330.

According to the latest data from the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), in the past 24 hours, 2,615 people have tested positive for COVID-19.

In terms of individual cases, Sindh is still the province most affected by the pandemic, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad. The number of casualties in Punjab has exceeded that in Sindh.

So far, 204,103 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh province, 131,428 cases have been confirmed in Punjab 8 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 36,117 cases have been confirmed in Islamabad, and 17,909 cases have been confirmed in Baluchistan , 7,961 cases were confirmed in Azad Kashmir and 4,822 cases were confirmed in Gilgit-Baltistan.

In addition, in 3,319 Punjab in Sindh, 1,536 in KP, 389 in Islamabad, 204 in Azd Kashmir, 179 in Balochistan and 99 in the United Kingdom, 3,604 people were killed.

Pakistan has so far conducted 6,301,341 coronavirus tests and 37,206 tests in the past 24 hours. The country has recovered 407,405 coronavirus patients, while 2,365 patients are in critical condition.
