Court extends Hamza Shahbaz’s judicial remand for 14 days

LAHORE: An Accountability Court (AC) in Lahore has on Thursday extended Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz’s judicial remand for 14 days.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader was produced before the court by officials from the Kot Lakhpat Jail after his judicial remand ended today. The AC directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor to file reference of the money laundering case.

On the other hand, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif’s counsels submitted an application in the court to grant him exemption from appearance on medical grounds in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal scam and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases.

It has been stated in the application that Shehbaz Sharif cannot appear before the court as he has gone abroad for elder brother Nawaz Sharif and his own medical treatment. The court summoned reply from the NAB on Shehbaz’s application after issuing a notice.
