Coronavirus case reported in Islamabad toll rises to 29


Pakistan again registered a coronavirus case in the country on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases across the country to 29.

The patient is a 30-year-old woman who traveled to Pakistan from the United States a few days ago, according to officials from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Officials added that the woman was very ill and placed on a ventilator. The woman was taken to PIMS from a private hospital.

This is also the first case reported in Islamabad.

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Pakistan on Friday night increased to 28 after seven Pakistani isolated in Taftan were found infected.

Karachi is by far the worst hit city, with 14 confirmed cases. Of the remaining cases, Gilgit-Balstan reported five cases, with Hyderabad and Quetta reporting one each.

Worldwide, with the rapid spread of the disease in new regions, more than 5,000 people worldwide have died and more than 140,000 people are infected with COVID-19.

The focus of the epidemic has now shifted to Europe, where new cases are growing rapidly every day.
