Compensation announced for rain and snow victims in Balochistan province


Quetta: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for News and Broadcasting, Dr. Fildos Ashik Awang, announced on Thursday that compensation would be provided to people affected by severe weather in Balochistan.

At a press conference in Quetta, the special assistant said that 500,000 rupees would be provided to the victims of the disaster, while the owner of the damaged house would hand over 50,000 rupees.

She said that in the province rain and snow related incidents 20 people were killed and 23 injured, while 173 houses were destroyed.

Dr. Firdous said the federal government will fully support the provincial government in providing assistance to people affected by rain and snow.

She said the federal government is committed to the development of Baluchistan province and believes that the province’s progress is Pakistan’s progress.

She said that in the context of the China-Pakistan economic corridor, the province of Baluchistan is implementing various projects that offer young people employment opportunities, as well as strengthening young people.

The special aid referred to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech at the World Economic Forum, which stated that the Prime Minister had effectively and forcefully introduced Pakistan’s story that the country would not be part of any conflict in the region. Instead it will accompany peace.
