Colombo: FM Qureshi meets Sri Lankan Counterpart, discusses bilateral issues


Colombo: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena during a two-day official visit to Colombo on Monday.

Sources said the leaders of the two countries discussed bilateral issues and strategies to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs P Selvaraj, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Bilateral Affairs (East), Sri Lanka, and Pakistan’s High Commissioner for Pakistan said on Twitter that the Foreign Minister had been interviewing diplomat.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi will also call on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and felicitate the new Sri Lankan leadership.

The two sides will exchange views on mutual relations and the entire field on regional and international issues.

It can be added that Pakistan and Sri Lanka maintain close and friendly relations based on mutual trust and understanding.

Bilateral relations are broad and cover a wide range of areas, including politics, trade, trade, defense, exchanges between people and cultural exchanges.

High-level visits are an integral part of relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
