China launches new meteorological satellite

China has launched a new weather forecast satellite, Fengyun-3E.

The satellite is equipped with 11 remote sensing payloads and is expected to improve the accuracy of weather forecasts.

According to the China National Space Administration, the satellite has a lifespan of 8 years and will help report global ice cover, sea surface temperature, natural disasters and ecological conditions to better respond to climate change and prevent and mitigate meteorological disasters.
