Islamabad: Compared with exports in the same period last year, cement exports in the 2020-21 fiscal year increased by 3.26%.
According to statistics from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), cement exports from July to June (2020-21) were US$26791 million, while exports from July to June (2019-20) were US$259444.1 million.
Data show that in terms of quantity, cement exports have also increased from 7,119,834 metric tons to 7,815,153 metric tons, an increase of 9.77%.
At the same time, compared with the same period last year, cement exports in June 2021 fell 15.42% year-on-year.
The cement export value in June 2021 was 14.325 million U.S. dollars, and the export value in June 2020 was 16.937 million U.S. dollars.
PBS data shows that compared with the export value of 28.528 million US dollars in May 2021, cement exports in June 2021 decreased by 49.79% month-on-month.
It is worth mentioning that compared with the same period last year, overall merchandise exports for the current fiscal year (2020-21) increased by 18.28%.
According to the latest data from PBS, the country’s exports from July to June (2020-21) were US$25.304 billion, while exports from July to June (2019-20) were US$21.394 billion.
During the period under review, imports also increased by 26.60%, from US$44.553 billion in the 2020-21 fiscal year to US$56.405 billion.
From the data point of view, the national trade deficit during the reporting period increased by 34.29% over the same period of the previous year.
The trade deficit during the period was US$31.101 billion, while the deficit was US$23.159 billion.
