Islamabad: The Council of Common Interests (CCI) unanimously adopted the National Electricity Policy for 2021 on Monday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan hosted the CCI meeting.
Speaking at the press conference with Dr. Waqar Masood Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Finance and Taxation, Energy Minister Hammad Azhar stated that the new power policy will be effective within ten years and new projects will be approved in a transparent manner in accordance with the policy.
The minister said that in accordance with the new power policy, policies for sub-sectors will be formulated. He said that with the help of the new policy, people will get low-cost, environmentally friendly electricity.
He said that 100 billion rupees have been allocated to improve the transmission system.
