Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan election campaign ended at midnight on Friday, and the voting for 23 of the 24 seats in the Legislative Assembly will be held on Sunday (November 15).
Preparations for Gilgit-Baltistan’s much-hyped election are in their final stages. According to the source, the delivery of election materials is underway, and staff have been deployed at the polling station.
Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said he is committed to holding fair and transparent elections. He said that stupid security arrangements have been made and a postal vote check will be conducted in front of the candidates.
The Gilgit-Baltistan elections between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are expected to face fierce competition.
PPP has selected candidates from all 23 seats, while 21 candidates from PTI and PML-N will run for their respective districts. Four female candidates will also participate in the election.
