Islamabad: The federal cabinet meets today to resolve the ongoing war of words between the energy sector and the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
The energy department of the Ministry of Energy maintains that since PTI came to power, the country’s energy sector has been on the rise. However, NEPRA is skeptical about this statement. It claims that the situation is deteriorating, especially with regard to the rotating debts.
The impasse is now before the federal cabinet of today, after a federal minister and two premium advisers were unable to resolve the dispute.
Secretary of State Erfan Ali told Geo.tv that he was determined with his “performance figures”, although he acknowledged that the Ministry of Energy had launched a campaign against electricity theft a few days ago in the country. He added that the initiative was thwarted by “some powerful mafia”.
