Cabinet okays ordinance making it mandatory for lawmakers to take oath in 60 days

Islamabad: Federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the appointment of Dr Muhammad Ashfaq as new chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry said at a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday that remittances have improved Pakistan’s economy and will provide the industry with electricity and natural gas at cheaper prices. Inflation continues to fall.

He said the cabinet also approved a decree that would allow it to enact parliament by swearing an oath within 60 days after the election.

Chowdhury went on to say that there were attempts to deprive the 9 million Pakistanis living abroad of their voting rights. He said that PML-N and PPP want to deprive overseas Pakistanis of their voting rights through organized conspiracies, adding that PML-N is an obstacle to holding transparent elections. All elections held in Pakistan have been accused of rigging.
