Karachi: The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus 320 jetliner have been recovered from the crash site, the airline spokesman said on Saturday.
“The black box had been found late yesterday, we are handing it over to the inquiry board,” PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan said, clarifying that both the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder were found.
Last Friday, a PIA Airbus aircraft carrying 99 people crashed into a crowded residential area of Karachi after two attempts to land at the airport.
The two passengers survived miraculously.
Shortly after the incident, Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed to start an investigation immediately. The Air Force Command Usman Ghani formed an investigation team, and according to the notice issued by the department, the team will provide a report to the aviation department “within the shortest possible time.”
“A preliminary statement will be issued within one month,” added the notification.
