Microsoft Corporation co-founder Bill Gates has made the company one of the world’s most valuable technology companies, and he left the board on Friday to focus on charity work related to global health, education and climate change.
Billionaire and his wife Melinda run one of the world’s largest charities, the Gates Foundation, which has billions of dollars in assets and is linked to disease and poverty. The Global Health Plan for Fighting provides funding.
Gates resigned from Microsoft’s full-time managerial position in 2008 and was chairman of the board of directors until 2014. He has been a board member since then.
Satya Nadella, Chief Executive Officer, said, “It was a great honor and honor to work with Bill and learn from the years.
The company said that if Gates leaves Microsoft’s board, it will now have 12 members.
Gates also resigned from the board of directors of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. He has been with the company since 2004.
