Washington: President-elect Biden urged the Senate on Wednesday to address the priorities of his schedule, even if it has a second impeachment deal with Donald Trump.
In his first comment on impeachment, Biden said that the United States is deeply affected by the coronavirus pandemic and the economic downturn. He needs the Senate to quickly approve his cabinet choice so that the new government can take office after taking office on January 20. Trump’s Senate trial will only begin after this date.
“I hope that the Senate leadership will find a way to deal with their Constitutional responsibilities on impeachment while also working on the other urgent business of this nation,” Biden said in a statement.
