Karachi: At least 13 passengers were burnt to death and six others sustained severe injuries when a passenger van they were travelling caught fire after an accident at M9 motorway.
According to highway police, the fateful van at the cement factory fell over after the end of the tie rod collapsed. The truck caught fire from a short circuit.
Rescue workers rushed to the scene immediately upon receipt of the notification and transferred the dead and injured to Nooriabad Hospital.
A 22-passenger van was driving from Hyderabad to Karachi when it overturned near a cement factory 40 kilometers away from the Karachi toll plaza.
At least eight passengers died on the spot.
