Muzaffarabad: Azad Kashmir legislative assembly elections will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2021.
According to the details, the AJK Election Committee has announced the election timetable and requires candidates to submit their nomination documents by 4 pm on June 21. The final list of candidates will be announced on July 3, 2021.
Rangers and police will be deployed during the polls. More than 2.8 million people will vote.
It is worth mentioning that in view of the threat of the global coronavirus outbreak, the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has proposed to the Election Commission to postpone the Azad Kashmir election.
The NCOC stated in a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) that the coronavirus epidemic may spread during the general election in July.
NCOC further stated that the election should be postponed for two months to save the people of Azad Kashmir from the impact of the epidemic.
The letter said: “A political rally due to the election will cause the virus to spread further in the state.”
