Senior Director Anti-Encroachment Bashir Siddiqui has submitted a report in the Supreme Court regarding the operation against encroachments in Karachi.
In a media interview on Friday, Siddiqui said he is following the instructions of the Supreme Court and has filed a report detailing the encroachment on Aladdin Park, the Kashmir Highway Complex and several storm drains.
He said that in addition to demolishing 6 shops, 8 warehouses and 7 rooms, he also took action against the occupation of the ST-14 lot.
According to Siddiqui, 3 acres of KDA land were also recovered. This is the land for the park and the boundary has been demarcated.
In providing an update on the operation of Aladdin Park, the senior director stated that the demolition of the Aladdin Park shopping center is still ongoing.
With the use of heavy machinery, 15% of the encroachments have been demolished at the park premises and Pavilion End Club. Shops inside the shopping mall are still being demolished while the club’s gate, security outposts and walls have been taken down.
“The entire operation can take several weeks to complete,” he said.
Siddiqui said the KDA Officers’ Club on Kashmir Road is also conducting an anti-appropriation operation, demolishing illegally set up wedding halls.
