Washington: According to statistics from Johns Hopkins University, the new coronavirus caused 1,081 deaths in the United States in the 24 hours before Tuesday evening at 8:30 (0030 GMT).

The Baltimore-based school said that of the 1,831,435 official cases so far, 106,180 people have officially died of the virus.

To date, the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the United States is the largest in any country in the world.

According to AFP statistics as of 0030 GMT, since the virus appeared in China late last year, it has caused at least 379,585 deaths worldwide.

Every American state has begun to relax containment measures to some extent to prevent the spread of the virus.

However, in recent days, dozens of major cities have imposed curfews in response to the riots that swept the country due to the death of George Floyd. George Floyd was suffocated by a white policeman in Minneapolis last week.
