The number of coronavirus infections worldwide has increased to almost 9.5 million, and the pandemic has claimed more than 485,000 lives to date.
At least 9,326,400 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in 196 countries and regions. Of these, at least 4,574,300 are considered restored.
Using data collected from national authorities by AFP and information from the World Health Organization (WHO), these counts may only reflect a small portion of the actual number of infections.
Many countries only test for symptomatic or most severe cases.
The United States ranks first with more than 2.4 million cases and more than 124,000 deaths, followed by Brazil with more than 1.1 million cases and more than 53,000 deaths.
