Washington: According to statistics maintained by Johns Hopkins University, the US passed 700,000 confirmed coronavirus cases on Friday.

The University of Baltimore said that as of Friday 0030 GMT, the United States has the largest number of cases and deaths in any country in the world, recording 700282 COVID-19 cases and 36773 deaths.

In the past 24 hours, the number of deaths has increased by 3,856, but this number may include “probable” virus-related deaths, which have not been counted before.

New York City said this week that it will increase 3,778 “probable” deaths from the virus.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention killed 33,049 people on Friday night, including 4,226 virus-related deaths.

Although the US population accounts for only one-fifth of the United States, the United States has the highest number of deaths in the coronavirus pandemic, after Italy (22,745 deaths).

The number of fatalities recorded in Spain was 19,478, followed by France with 18,681.
