Washington: Statistics from Johns Hopkins University show that the United States recorded 55,000 new coronavirus cases within 24 hours on Wednesday. The total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 3,046,351.

This country is the most severely affected country in the world, and it had already passed the severe milestone of 3 million infected people earlier on Wednesday. Due to testing problems in March and April, the actual number may be higher.

The Baltimore-based agency showed at 8:30 pm (0030 GMT) that the United States also increased 833 viral deaths, bringing the death toll to 132,195.

US President Donald Trump often underestimates these numbers and attributes them to improved testing capabilities during June.

Coronavirus cases have surged in several hot spots in the south, including Texas, Florida, Louisiana and Arizona, but this pandemic has almost completely receded from New York and the Northeast from its previous epicenter.

Some states were forced to suspend their reopening process or even reverse the route, and some order bars closed again.

On Wednesday morning, Trump called for schools across the country to reopen in the fall and strongly urged his own top health agency to relax health and safety requirements to slow the spread of the virus, such as staying away from society.
