Islamabad: The United Kingdom has announced financial support worth 2.67 million pounds to Pakistan in combating Coronavirus pandemic.
British High Commissioner in Pakistan Dr. Christian Turner announced support in a video message today (Saturday). Dr. Christian Turner said that the support is aimed at providing medical assistance to severely ill patients and building a more powerful system to detect and Test COVID-19 in Pakistan.
He said that the United Kingdom will provide a package of assistance of 2.67 million pounds to the World Health Organization to help improve prevention, testing and treatment services in 27 areas of Pakistan.
The British High Commissioner said that due to the rapid response to control of locusts in Pakistan ’s disaster areas, another one million ponds will be provided, and these locusts have a devastating effect on crops and livelihoods.
He said that Britain was standing side by side with his friend Pakistan during difficult times.
