Trump finally dons mask as US sets new virus case record

BETHESDA: US President Donald Trump finally put pressure on the public for the first time on Saturday and put on a mask because the United States released another daily coronavirus case record, while Disney World reopened in a state hit by a pandemic.

The White House experts who led the nation’s fight against infectious diseases recommended wearing masks in public places to prevent the spread of the disease.

However, even though White House staff had a positive reaction to the virus and more assistants put on masks, Trump has repeatedly avoided wearing masks.

A few hours after the World Health Organization urged countries to strengthen control measures to control the disease, Trump wore a black mask with a presidential seal when visiting injured veterans at Walter Reed Military Hospital outside Washington.

When he left the White House, he told reporters: “I have never opposed masks, but I do believe that they have a certain time and position.”

Trump lags behind Democrat Joe Biden in the polls before the November elections. A survey shows that most Americans are not satisfied with how he responded to the public health crisis.

But despite the large amount of data showing the spread of the disease in the United States, the president still praised his response to the pandemic.

The country released a daily record of confirmed cases on Saturday night. There were 66,528 new infections and the death toll increased by nearly 800 to nearly 135,000.

In Florida, nearly one-sixth of these new infections have been recorded, and four months after the shutdown caused by the virus, the Walt Disney World Theme Park was partially reopened.

Hundreds of people lined up to enter Orlando’s parks, some of them sporting Mickey’s ears, but they all wore masks and were equipped with social isolation and other hygiene precautions.

A few days ago, Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease expert in the United States, said that Florida has begun to reopen until it reaches a standard that can be safely opened.

Since the discovery of this coronavirus pandemic in China for the first time late last year, it has infected nearly 13 million people, killed 560,000 people and caused huge economic losses.

The United States is the country with the most severe disease, followed by Brazil-the death toll last Friday exceeded 70,000.
