Islamabad: Federal Energy Minister Hamad Azhar said on Monday that the Sindh government should not try to increase sugar prices by forming links.
In an interview with the media in Islamabad on Monday, he said that sugar prices will fall in the next few weeks.
The minister said that the sugarcane harvest this year will meet the country’s sugar demand.
Hammad Azhar went on to say that if sugar mills in Punjab State do not start crushing in time, legal action will be taken.
“Approximately 100,000 tons of imported sugar have already arrived in Pakistan, and orders for another 30,000 tons of sugar will arrive in the country soon,” he said.
“Imported sugar will be sold at 90 rupees per kilogram through utility stores, mobile trucks and other means,” the minister added.
