Spain sees 551 new virus deaths as toll tops 19,000

Madrid: After a further 551 people died in COVID-19, the number of coronavirus deaths rose to 19,000 on Thursday, a figure reflecting the slow growth following the embargo for nearly five weeks.

Spain is one of the hardest hit countries in the world. The number of deaths and infections has grown slowly over the past two weeks. The number of nocturnal deaths has resulted in 19,130 deaths.

It also registered 5,183 new cases of COVID-19, with a total of 182,816 cases, officially taking second place in the world after the United States.
