Smart lockdown imposed in parts of Karachi

Karachi: Following the reports of rise in coronavirus cases in the metropolis, the authorities have imposed “smart lockdowns” and closed dozens of restaurants in the country s financial capital of Karachi.

While issuing the order, the Deputy Commissioner said that lockdown will be held in different areas of Korangi till October 15 adding that lockdown will also be implemented in Korangi No 2, Al-Falah Society, Shadman Tower Malir, Darakhshan Society Malir.

He said that nine people in the exclusion zone have been tested positive for coronavirus, adding that grocery stores will continue to be open for mobility in the area.

The deputy commissioner said that as of October 17, blockades have been implemented in 5 places in the eastern region, and starting today (Friday), the blockade will be implemented in Korangi and the eastern region.

On the other hand, after the COVID-19 case, Karachi’s first private bank was blocked. In the southern region, private banks were sealed under the orders of the deputy director. Five employees of the private bank received a positive test for the virus.

At the same time, four schools in different areas of Karachi were closed due to SOP violations. These four closed educational institutions are located in the southern region.

At the same time, 12 educational institutions have been issued warnings for violating the SOP, and a shop in the western region has been fined 50,000 rupees. The authorities also sealed off 7 wedding halls and 61 restaurants in the city within 24 hours.
