Peshawar: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin has been elected Senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During today’s Senate by-election, 122 of the 145 members of the Provincial Assembly voted.
The financial adviser won the seat after receiving 87 votes.
At the same time, freshman Senator Irenen talked with the media in Peshawar and reiterated his commitment to take measures to promote the province’s socio-economic development.
He said that the people of the whole province have made unparalleled sacrifices in the war on terrorism.
Shaukat Tarin said that the government has launched the Ehsaas Rashan project in KP, which will benefit 20 million families.
He said that under the plan, edible items including oil, beans and flour will be provided at a subsidy rate of 30%.
