Islamabad:Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected the appeals of Federal Board of Revenue pertaining to additional wealth tax issued to Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif’s late wife Kalsoom Nawaz.

The court announced that both Shehbaz and Kalsoom had filed their wealth tax between 1994 and 1998, but the FBR issued a notice of additional wealth tax.

The Supreme Court observed that the demand notice must be issued before the additional wealth tax notice, and the FBR failed to prove in court that it issued the demand notice.

The Sharif family challenged the FBR notice in the Lahore High Court, which declared the board’s notice invalid.

However, the FBR challenged the Supreme Court’s LHC decision.
