Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday ordered the closure of illegal campuses of private universities across the country.

A three-person bench led by Justice Omar Atta Bandil heard the case.

During the proceedings, the court has instructed to ensure the implementation of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) policy. The Supreme Court stated that no compromise is allowed on the issue of higher education for young people.

HEC has clarified that universities are not allowed to establish regional campuses.

Judge Umar Ata Bandial instructed the federal and provincial governments to cooperate to maintain the education level in the country. He said that if HEC is weak, we will order the federal government to change the law.

At the same time, lawyer Ali Zafar stated that the students approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) for help regarding their degree. He added that the court thoroughly analyzed the facts and called these campuses illegal.
