Rupee weakens against US dollar in interbank


Karachi: The Pakistani rupee exchange rate fell by 49 paisa against the US dollar between banks last Friday, compared to the last closing price of 159.98 rupees and closing at 160.47 rupees.

However, according to the Pakistan Foreign Exchange Association, the buying and selling prices of US dollars on the open market are 158.5 rupees and 161 rupees, respectively.

The National Bank of Pakistan reported that in interbank transactions, the euro exchange rate fell by 36 paisa to close at 172.32 rupees, while the last day’s transaction price was 172.68 rupees.

The yen exchange rate remained stable at 1.48 rupees, while the pound exchange rate fell by 03 paisa. The pound was trading at 197.63 rupees, while its recent closing price was 197.66 rupees. The exchange rates of the Saudi Riyal and the United Arab Emirates Dirham have appreciated by 15 Paisa and 13 Paisa, respectively, at Rs 42.67 and Rs 43.68 respectively.
