ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Friday stopped the Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad Dr Akbar Nasir Khan from raiding Bani Gala to arrest the driver of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shehbaz Gill.
The IGP from Saudi Arabia obtained details related to the Shahbaz Gill case by phone, according to sources.
The interior minister has blocked IG Islamabad from conducting a raid to arrest Shahbaz Gill’s driver, expressing dissatisfaction with the arrest of the driver’s wife and daughter.
He ordered IG to notify him first if it wasn’t cooperating and to get his permission before any raids on Bani Gala Red.
The interior minister said the driver of Shahbaz Gill should be arrested anyway to recover the laptop and mobile phone.
He said the law should be fully complied with in the process of arresting the driver and collecting evidence in the Shehbaz Gul case.
Home Minister Rana Sanaullah also expressed his dissatisfaction with IG Islamabad’s arrest of Shehbaz Gill driver’s wife and her children.
He said arresting housewives is not the policy and tradition of our Muslim League (N) government and any such practice cannot be encouraged.
