Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) blocked the Bigo App on Monday and warned TikTok for the last time, otherwise it will also be blocked in Pakistan.
PTA stated in a press release that it has received complaints from all walks of life about unethical, obscene and vulgar content on social media applications (including TikTok and Bigo), which are extremely detrimental to society in general and youth society. specific.
Based on these complaints, if content is not managed more strictly on the platform, TikTok will prevent an application from facing similar behavior.
PTA has issued necessary notices to the aforementioned social media companies in accordance with the law to regulate social networking and content within the legal and ethical scope in accordance with national laws.
However, the response of these companies was not satisfactory.
Therefore, after PTA exercised PECA’s powers, it decided to immediately block Bigo and issue a final warning to TikTok to establish a comprehensive mechanism to control obscene, vulgar and unethical behavior through its social media applications.
