ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Thursday said that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umer Ata Bandial should himself head the judicial commission to investigate and hear the alleged conspiracy which led to the ouster of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

In a letter to the CPP investigating the alleged conspiracy to change the regime, the president said that the chief justice himself should lead the judicial committee to investigate and hear cases of alleged conspiracy to overthrow the government.

The letter said it was necessary to rescue the country from the political and economic crisis to prevent the situation from further deteriorating, adding that a serious political crisis is looming over the country and that, given the recent events, serious political divisions are emerging among the Pakistani people.
