Karachi: In the first quarter of this year, the electricity bill for the people of Karachi may increase by more than Rs 4.80 per unit, and under the monthly fuel adjustment in November, the electricity bill may drop by 75 paisa per unit.

NEPRA heard two different pleas to increase the price of electricity by Rs5.50 in the first quarter of the current financial year July to September and November 2021 under fuel adjustment.

K-Electric has filed a plea for an increase of Rs 5.18 per unit in electricity price in the quarterly adjustment, but NEPRA officials said that K-Electric s quarterly adjustment would increase the price of electricity by Rs 4.80 per unit.

The quarterly adjustment includes a capacity charge of Rs 4.30, and according to NEPRA data, the quarterly adjustment will affect consumers. Similarly, K-Electric requested an increase of 32 paisa per unit of electricity in the context of the monthly fuel adjustment in November.
