Politicians should refrain from fighting their political battles in court, IHC on disqualification cases

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday held a hearing on a petition filed to disqualify Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry.

Instead, the court also heard a motion by Provincial Assembly Member (MPA) Khurram Sher Zaman to disqualify former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) president and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

During the proceedings, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that even if the petition gets accepted, it can be nullified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP).

He further asked, “Why should this court conduct hearing upon these petitions.”

Politicians should refrain from fighting their political battles in court, said Athar Minallah.
