Police baton-charge MQM protestors in Karachi


Karachi: To disperse protesters outside CM House in Karachi, police today (Wednesday) used force and attacked MQM demonstrators with batons.

MQM workers hold a sit-in in front of CM House in Sindh to protest the Sindh Local Government Act. Due to the sit-in, the transportation system was severely disrupted and citizens faced serious difficulties.

Dr Ziauddin Road in front of CM House was closed, according to traffic police. Corridor 3 from Queen’s Market to Mazar-e-Quaid was also closed due to traffic.

In addition, traffic on major roads around CM House was affected, while traffic on Guru Mandir, Golimar and Lasbela roads was also affected.

Meanwhile, former Karachi mayor Wasim Akhtar said they were there to record protests against the actions of the local government. He said large numbers of workers were participating in protests against the black law.
